SHEIKH KABIR
COW HORSE STARTING
&TRAINING CLINIC 9a.m to 4p.m
Sheikh Kabir has made it his specialty starting colts of all breeds for working cow horse and cutting, including Grand Champion Stallion, Khonig. Mentored by NCHA Hall of Fame member Punk Carter & Ray Hunt, who he worked under for five years. Sheikh conducts training and clinics from his facility in Tioga, Texas producing cutting and working cow horses by “gentling” rather than breaking. This clinic is a great opportunity to understand the finer points of starting and training horses destined for competition, working or beloved family horse. Ruby Kennedy Clinic
Ruby Kennedy’s training program is based on a solid foundation of communication and respect. Respect from our animals as well as respect towards them, encourages the animals in a positive manner instead of discouraging the animal in an attempt to rush them through the training process. This respect also fosters a relationship of trust, which in turn creates basic manners and softness that are imperative. Proper groundwork is considered a pre-requisite to riding. The process is started the same whether the horse is destined to be a Hunter, Reiner, Western Pleasure Horse, Driver, or as a down the road trail horse. Ruby Kennedy has shown locally, regionally, and nationally under several disciplines with many different breeds. She has trained numerous World Champions and Reserve World Champions in PtHA, AMHR, ApHC, POAC, ASPC, APHA, and AQHA. Ruby also holds a few judges cards, and that experience has taught her exactly what is needed to bring home the gold! Any breed is accepted into training, although she specializes in animals geared toward the show pen. Clinic Format Riders/Horses will be split into two groups (beginners/trail riders & advanced/show). The clinic will be customized to the participants, Ruby is eager to help each person with specific things. Sessions may be combined or altered to fit the individual interests and needs, but a full schedule will be available prior to the clinic.
